I started in Bangor in 1997 doing a degree in Forestry and Forest Products, during which I spent a year in New Zealand working at Forest Research in Rotorua. After my degree I went to Buckinghamshire and Chilterns Collage to study an MSc in Forest Products Technology, for which I gained a distinction. I then went back to the University of Wales Bangor in 2003 to study my PhD in Wood Science specializing in Novel Timber Preservation. I have sat on the committee of my University concert band, as both treasurer and Chairman and chaired of the Research Students Forum through its inaugural year. I currently work for the Biocomposites Centre, a research centre at Bangor University, that focuses on natural products, as the head of the materials research, leading a team of scientists and technical staff in both commercial and publically funded projects. I have many passions in my life, gastronomy, canoeing and mountaineering, to name but a few. I have two wonderful Labradors and three cats, a love for the countryside and a passion to make the world a better place. To see my full C.V. please click here |
